En la última entrega de los Territorios Sensibles de nuestro más reciente proyecto, Ciudades Emocionales, abordábamos el tema de las manifestaciones públicas como una forma de hacer ciudad y ciudadanía, y, por consiguiente, capital cultural. El eco de muchas voces que en los últimos años se han alzado a lo largo del mundo en contra de regímenes opresores, situaciones de precariedad y clases políticas invadidas de corrupción y malas gestiones, recorría aquella entrega. En sintonía con dicho post hoy os queremos compartir una forma muy original y por demás poética de protesta que hemos visto surgir desde Turquía.

Hace algunas semanas circulaba por la red un acto espontáneo de protesta que captó la atención internacional. El 17 de julio pasado en Estambul un joven turco se plantaba en la plaza central de Taksim y permanecía parado mirando al frente de las instituciones durante seis horas. Sus manos en los bolsillos, sus ojos en el infinito. Haciéndose presente, observando. Una serie de agentes de paisano le rodeaban después de horas estático, comenzaban a cachearle, le registraban, le interrogaban, le increpaban, el permanecía de pie. Hasta el momento el gesto es imponente pero no deja de ser una anécdota, transciende gracias a que algunos espontáneos registran el suceso. Las imágenes son contundentes y dan mucho que pensar, de principio la impotencia y la ignorancia de quienes intentan resarcirlo y no comprenden nada de lo que pasa. La indiferencia ante quien registra en vídeo, incapaces de imaginar que ese hecho ya vuelve su protesta una mirada del mundo hacia esa plaza en conflicto.

Pero la protesta no se queda allí y no trasciende únicamente gracias a internet. Cientos de personas que lo ven allí parado se le unen. Se plantan en la plaza junto a él y miran lo que pasa en Turquía, se hacen presentes, estamos observando. Nace con ello “Duran Adam”, “Hombre Parado” “Man standindg” en femenino “Duran Kadin”. Una nueva forma de protesta pacífica y silenciosa que ya se extendió por todo Turquía al grado de que, a pesar de no infringir ningún tipo de ley o norma, la policía ya está reprimiendo a los manifestantes con detenciones. Pero el apunte cultural, poético y entusiasta que queremos compartíros no se queda aquí. El “Duran Adam” ha encontrado otras versiones que también la dotan de profundo sentido, se llama “The Taksim Squate Book Club”, y consiste en emular la propuesta del “Man standindg”  pero con un libro entre las manos. Leyendo de pie en la plaza Taksim, y no cualquier tipo de libro, sino obras cuyo tema o título sirvan para ilustrar la situación política que está viviendo Turquía actualmente. De La metamofósis de Kafka a El mito de Sísifo de Camus, de 1984 de Orwell a La crisis del mundo moderno de Rene Guenon. Palabras, libros e ideas como puños, como voces de protesta.
